The B Team at Ransomes

The tournament was run as a league with each team playing 8 games. The top two then played a final match to decide the winners and runners up.

I thought it was a very well run tournament with a few familiar faces and a few teams we'd never played before.

Results:

Claydon Blacks 0-0 F&W B

A good solid start for the B's. Strong defending and a well deserved clean sheet.

F&W B 1-3 Wickham Market

Another good game . Wickham deserved their win. They took their chances well. The B's put up a good performance and got our first goal of the day. Freddies cross was handled in the box and Aiden confidently buried the penalty.

F&W B 0-3 Trimley A

We did very well to keep the score down in this game against a very strong A team. We might have got a goal when Connors long clearance sent Aiden on his way with one defender and the keeper to beat. He took it past the defender and was heading for a one on one with the keeper when the defender made a last gasp attempt to bring him down. This would have been a very serious foul had he made full contact. Aiden to his credit tried to stay on his feet but had lost momentum and the keeper was able to block him off.

Ransomes 4-0 F&W B

By this time we were the walking wounded!! Connor had made a superb tackle early in the tourney and had injured himself in the process. Imaani eventually had to go in goals due to injury. Brandon had also picked up a knock! What a nightmare.

F&W A 1-0 F&W B

A nice friendly little run around after lunch to get us going again!! This game ended up as a closely fought affair. It was played in good spirit and the A's deserved their win. Crunching tackles all round and an excellent performance from Imaani in goals.

Claydon Blues 1-0 F&W B

Another very tight game. We were very unlucky to lose this.

Chantry Grasshoppers 1-1 F&W B

This was actually a team of boys and not grasshoppers as I had predicted. We gave another strong performance and possibly had the better of the game. Aiden managed to double his (and the teams) goal tally for the day.

F&W B 0-4 Trimley B

By the time this game was played we were a spent force. We lost Connor to injury. The previous knocks and heat were taking their toll. We had some great tackles at the back from Luke and Brandon who provided some great protection for our injured goalkeeper. Despite the heat Freddie and Aiden didn't stop running for the whole day. Sam and Joseph provided some great touches as well.


Overall the scorelines didn't always reflect the actual games. We battled hard and played as a team. It was a shame that we had taken so many knocks early on. Sam only got half the day in goals but showed definite signs that he was getting more comfortable between the sticks and taking some great goal kicks.
I think it's looking good for next season.
